Former assistant manager Alan Lewer has been appointed manager of Nuneaton Borough following their relegation to the Dr Martens League. Amongst his squad are a number of former Pilgrims, including Mark Clifford, Dion Scott, Mickey Brown and Gez Murphy. Mike Marsh also joined the team as Lewer's assistant manager after a spell with Accrington Stanley, but the stay was very short as he became manager at Unibond League Premier Division side Burscough a few weeks later. Stevenage Borough are another club who have been signing up many former Pilgrims. Their squad now includes Jamie Cook, Tony Battersby, Anthony Elding, James Gould and Peter Costello. Dominic Genovese, who featured in Boston's squad in their great FA Trophy run of 1984/5, has progressed from youth team coach up to manager at newly relegated Kettering Town. One of his first signings has been former defender Andy Lodge. Another member of the squad in that FA Trophy run who has been in the news is keeper Kevin Blackwell. After success as assistant manager at Sheffield United, he has moved on to become first team coach at Premiership Leeds United. David Town has been snapped up by Dr Martens League side Havant & Waterlooville. Goalkeeper Lee Butler, who played a handful of games for Boston United in 1987, has surprisingly switched from Halifax Town to Alfreton Town after being voted player of the season by the Shaymen's official website. David Rennie has been retained as chief physiotherapist at Leicester City following their promotion to the Premiership. Former striker Shaun Keeble has taken over as manager of Holbeach United following the departure of Dick Creasey to Spalding United. Creasey has taken several players from Holbeach with him to Spalding, including Steve Appleby and Mick Nuttell. He has also signed up former Boston striker Paul Watts from King's Lynn. Mark Rawle who was sold to Southend United for a club record £60,000 in February 2001, has moved on to Oxford United. Kevin Slinn, who had a brief spell with the Pilgrims in 1999, has signed up with Grantham Town. Defender Ross Weatherstone has signed up with Farnborough Town after spending most of pre-season training with them. He joins two other former Pilgrims at the club, namely Ken Charlery and Adie Hayes. Another former Boston player has however left Farnborough - Jim Rodwell has joined up with newly promoted Aldershot Town.
